CGIAR Phytosanitary Awareness Week 2020
Within the framework of the International Year of Plant Health 2020, the Germplasm Health Units of CGIAR centers, under the auspices of the CGIAR Genebank Plaform, have organized CGIAR Phytosanitary Awareness Week 2020, from 9 to 13 November.
The theme of this year’s Phytosanitary Awareness Week is Phytosanitary safety for prevention of transboundary spread of pests and pathogens.
The event has been organized by CGIAR in partnership with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC), national and regional plant protection organizations and Crop Trust. From November 9 to 13, daily seminars will be streamed via Zoom and Facebook pages of participating centers. The event is free of charge and open to anyone interested. Sessions on November 10, 11 and 12 will focus on Asia, Latin America and Africa respectively. The aim of this event is to increase awareness of current phytosanitary challenges and inform scientists about recent advances in technologies, policies and procedures for international exchange of germplasm and biological material. The ultimate goal is to ensure the distribution of healthy germplasm globally for food and agricultural R&D.
