About Sarah

Sarah Gray joined ICARDA as Head of Communications in September 2025. She has served as a Senior Director and Adviser of strategic communications for nearly 20 years, developing and overseeing strategic communications for international development projects covering a range of sectors, including agriculture, climate change, environment, biodiversity conservation, maternal and child health, education, governance, economic development, and private sector development. Prior to joining ICARDA, Sarah was the Strategic Communications Director for the USD 325 million USAID/Ukraine Economic Resiliency Activity, which focused on boosting Ukraine's agricultural sector in the midst of conflict. Sarah has managed cross-cultural teams across the Asia Pacific (APAC) region, Eastern Europe, and the U.S. while building strong stakeholder relationships and raising the visibility of donor-funded projects, including for DFAT, USAID, UN, WB and others. Sarah has extensive experience producing targeted communications strategies and activities targeting policy/decision makers, private sector leaders, communities, the public, and governments at the local and national level. She holds a bachelor's degree in English Literature from the University of Oregon and a master's degree in International Affairs with a concentration in International Media and Communications from Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA) in New York.
